Israel resumes air strikes as Hamas rejects Ceasefire

The conflict between Israel and Gaza is showing no signs to end. As this conflict enters into its 9th day, the situations seem to remain hostile. In its latest action, Irasel has dropped leaflets urging civilians to move away from Hamas targets before their Defence Forces strike there.

The leaflets were addressed to the residents to Shuja’Iya and Zeitoun. The leafletleaflets read, “In spite of the ceasefire, Hamas and other terrorist organizations continued to fire rockets. Therefore it is the intention of the IDF to carry out aerial strikes against terror sites an operatives in Shuja’ iya and Zeitoun. A high volume of rocket fire at Israel has originated in this area.” (Read the full text in the image beside)

Early this morning, rocket sirens were heard over Tel Aviv and 4 rockets fired from Gaza were then intercepted.

Let’s not forget that Egypt had come up with a proposal for ceasefire. On July 15th, Israel stopped its military actions in the Gaza strip in order to restore routine life to Israel citizens having been subjected to constant rocket attacks by Hamas.

UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon spoke to Egyptian President and expressed his full strength for their initiative for a ceasefire agreement, reported the UN news centre.

But acting contrary to Israel, the Gaza-based Hamas organization rejected the ceasefire proposal. Despite Israel having stopped its military activity, Hamas continued to fire rockets on Israel and simply increased the number Israel-Gaza conflictof causalities and destruction in Israel. A press statement released today says that ‘The Government of Israel has not only the right to defend itself but also the right to protect its civilians from such attacks.’

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “Hamas’s rejection of the ceasefire gives Israel full legitimacy to expand the operation to protect our people.”

Israel then resumed its air strikes on Gaza.

According to Agence France Press (AFP), Israeli warplanes bombed the home of a senior Hamas leader earlier today. While this happened, Israel also called-off 3 air strikes on Gaza after its pilots spotted civilians in the area.

The UN has called the level of human loss and destruction in Gaza as ‘immense.’ Sami Mshasha from the UN Relief & Work Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East told a news conference in Geneva that the numbers are increasing by the hour.

A photo put-up by the IDF quotes Hamas leader, Khaled Meshaal saying, “Before Israel dies, it must be humiliated and degraded.”

Through a tweet, some minutes back, the Ezzedeen Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas, informed about the death toll that has risen to 208 and 1550+ injuries since the beginning Israel resumes air strikesof the Israeli genocide aggression.

The Egyptian proposal of ceasefire was actually beneficial for both – Israel as well as Gaza. It’s over a week now since these conflicts have broken down and it has only resulted in massive destruction. This is actually intolerable. So many innocent lives are at stake and this conflict is refusing to stop. Israel did accept the ceasefire but Hamas too should have accepted it. By rejecting the ceasefire and attacking Israel it has added resumed the conflict which could have easily stopped. War has never resulted in well-being of anybody. It has only led to devastation.

Heart melts at seeing the visuals of injured and deaths at Israel as well as Gaza. Localities are living under tremendous fear. Physically and psychologically, people are being troubled and there are no positive gains out of this conflict. It will be seriously better if both the parts realize that this conflict needs to stop here and humans need to be protected. Safety and Security of people, residing in Israel and Gaza need to be prioritized rather than simply launching rockets and going on a rampage.
