Israel regrets over death of nine Turkish activists

Israel formally apologised to Turkey over the deaths of nine Turkish activists by Israeli naval raid and asked to restore bilateral relationship with Turkey.

President Barack Obama arranged a phone call between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Netanyahu told Erdogan that the incident was non-intentional and tragic. It was an “operational mistakes”.

Turkey ended diplomatic ties with Israel after the activists were killed by Israeli navy in 2009 on a Gaza-bound boat.
