Nissan India Launched ‘Sunny’ Sedan

Nissan Motors unveiled a new mid-size car in India, Nissan `Sunny’ and they are considering to launch more small cars in the Indian market.
The 10th Generation Nissan Sunny is based on the popular V- (Versatile) platform, the one used in the Nissan Micra. The company is expecting Sunny to help them to triple its local sales to 40,000 units in the current financial year. The price of the new car is yet to be decided.
Speaking on the occasion MD & CEO of Nissan Motor India, Kiminobu Tokuyama told, “We are launching the new saloon Sunny in October to coincide with the festive season. The petrol and diesel variant of the Nissan Sunny will be manufactured at the Renault Nissan alliance Orgadam facility in Chennai. Alos we see a great opportunity in the segment below Micra, a hatchback model, and looking forward to introduce some small cars in India in near future.”
The Chennai unit is expected to expand production capacity to 400,000 cars a year by the mid of 2012 and half of them will be export by the end of 2012, Tokuyama briefed media.
Also Tokuyama said that Nissan India is looking at launching MPV-category vehicle in a joint venture with Ashok Leyland. It will be similar to Toyota Innova model and will be launched in 2012.
