Baghpat Panchayat In UP Issues Diktat Against Women

It can happen in India! Taliban style Fatwa was issued against women in Baghpat Panchayat!

Taliban way of diktat has been issued against women of the Aasra village in Baghpat district in Uttar Pradesh. Shockingly the Aasra village is approximately 50km away from the national capital, New Delhi. Ironically this constituency belongs to Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh.

The Panchayat met on Wednesday and issued the commands. Some of the diktats are:

•    The Panchayat bans love marriages
•    No women under 40 years can go for shopping alone
•    Women under 40 years will not use mobile phones
•    Women should not go in the public without covering their head
•    No women can go out without male escort

If anyone disobeys these instructions then they will face total boycott from community and those who found helping them out will also face the severe punishment.

Only one positive issue came out from that meeting was that the Panchayat condemned the practice of dowry. The Panchayat terms it as ‘a punishable offence’.

On the one hand when we are having women who are holding constitutional posts, serving the societies at large, we also have this kind of ‘Fatwas’ issued against women openly. What a shame!

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
