Over 30 killed in Baghdad as bomb ripped through stadium

The serene village of Al-Asriya that lies to the south of Baghdad, geared itself on Saturday, as it lay rest to their younger ones who were killed as a suicide bomber blew up, following a football tournament.

Pictures of the attacker, who himself resembles a teenager, according to the sources, were released by the Islamic State group, who took up the responsibility for the attack, and went viral immediately.

Around 32 lives are reported to have been claimed in the incident, with approximately 84 others wounded – 12 of whom are very serious, an official told the media. “Seventeen of those killed are boys aged between 10 and 16,” the official further remarked.

Al-Asriya is situated near Iskandariyah, a small town about 40 kilometres (25 miles) south of Baghdad. The bomber apparently detonated his suicide jacket, later on Friday afternoon, as local dignitaries handed out trophies to the players after the tournament. A video that went viral on the social media shows an official speaking in front of a table on which trophies and medals had been kept, and calling out the names of the players before the huge explosion occurred.

Further warnings have been issued by the observers and other research associated people, saying that since the ‘self-proclaimed “caliphate” shrinks towards extinction’, ISIL and ISIS fighters shall most likely get back to using their old guerrilla warfare techniques and continue ‘ramping up’ such surprise suicide attacks on the mere population.
