Nokia Retain No.1 Position In Indian Mobile Market

According to a study conducted by CyberMedia Research, Nokia retained its numero uno position in the Indian mobile phone market.

Nokia with 31% market share leads the overall phone industry followed by Samsung at No 2 with 15% and Micromax at No 3 with 5% during 2011.

In the Smartphone segment, Nokia leads the market by selling 38%, followed by Samsung with 28% RIM at third place with 15% market share.

Mobile phone shipments to India increased by 10% 183.4 million units in 2011 against 166.5 million units in 2010. Smartphone market increased 87% to 11.2 million units in 2011 as against 6 million units in 2010.

In 2011, 150 smartphones was launched in the Indian market by around 30 companies.
