He was a pioneer in the screen history of the country and is the creator of some of the most iconic films of Israel if not of the world.

Israeli Screen Legend Dayan Dies at 68One of his most famous creations “He Walked the Films,” an idealistic love story hit theaters in 1967. He was nominated Academy Awards for “Beyond the Walls” in 1984.

He received a lifetime achievement award at the Jerusalem International Film Festival in 1998. But he was later mired in controversies, health struggles and other issues. But his creations were never less than any triumphs. His trilogy exploring the dark, creeping underbelly of modern Israeli society won many accolades worldwide.

The international movie world and of-course Israel will miss this legendary talent surely.
