THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEA YOU CAN ENJOY THIS RAINY SEASON

The rains are officially here, that means window sill, chai, pakode and your favourite book for days. Here is the official guide to enjoy different variants of tea this monsoon.

THE REAL MVP:

IMG_2639The ‘Adrak wali chai’ is the MVP of all the tea variants, atleast in out country. Prepared in almost every household, its something most Indians can’t go without. Adrak (ginger) is very versatile because it helps control inflammation in muscles and joints, relieves nausea, improves performance of the stomach, improves blood circulation, relieves stress and relieves menstrual discomfort. The most ideal time to drink Ginger tea, a they call it, is the morning as it effectively curbs morning sickness.

THE MODERN ONE:green

I like to call Green Tea the ‘modern one’ because all youngsters are seen drinking it. Green Tea is loaded with antioxidants and is very good for the body. It improves brain function, fat loss, lowers the risk of cancer, increases fat burn and improves physical performance, reduces risk of alzheimer’s, improves dental health and lowers the risk of becoming obese. Green Tea has a good amount of caffeine, so it will definitely keep you going. The best way to enjoy green tea is with a little sugar or honey and no milk. It can be had at any time of the day.

THE TRUE TEA:IMG_2636

Black tea is considered to be the true tea. It is prepared by breaking and rolling the tea leaves which allows complete oxidation. Although black tea can be really beneficial for those who are lactose intolerant but still want to have tea or otherwise, consumption of too much black tea can be bad for health.

THE REFRESHING ONE:

IMG_2635Peppermint tea is one of the most refreshing beverages. It boosts overall health by improving digestion, reducing body pain, reducing inflammation, curing bad breath and relieving stress. Peppermint tea is best enjoyed without milk and sugar.

THE PARTIAL ONE:Oolongtea1

Oolong tea is made from the same leaves as black tea. The only difference being, oolong tea is partially fermented. Oolong tea contains theophyiline which is very similar to caffeine. Oolong tea boosts your metabolish and causes weight loss. It lowers cholesterol and increases mental alertness. It also promotes healthy hair and skin.

THE FANCY ONE:Cup Green Earl Grey crop-500x500

Earl grey tea leaves are super pretty. Earl grey tea is good for the teeth as it contains high levels of catechin  which fights oral problems. Earl grey tea also helps fight anxiety and depression. It increases energy levels and helps lose weight. It should be enjoyed without milk and sugar or honey.

THE ONE WHICH IS MUCH MORE THAN A WEED:

IMG_2637The roots and leaves of the dandelion have been used in a lot of cultures to make dandelion tea. It is rich in vitamins and contains large amounts of beta-carotene. It helps alleviate symptoms of bloating, diabetes, liver dysfunction. However, dandelion tea should be checked for allergic reactions.

These are just a few varieties of tea. There are many more available, especially in the indian market. So switch up your boring adrak wali chai this monsoon! Happy monsoon!!
