Yadav-Bhushan form ‘Swaraj Abhiyan” to correct problems within AAP

The discontented members of the Aam Aadmi Party, Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, on Tuesday, formed a non-political organization with the name ‘Swaraj Abhiyan’. With the aim to work for alternative politics, the rebel-duo launched it, calling it a “new beginning”.

An announcement of a new party was being expected, however, the duo refused to say more over it as of Tuesday.

In the day-long discussion, according to them, 70% of the people chose to stay in the party and correct the problems, while 25% opined to form a new party. Explicitly, as of now, the duo have decided to go with the suggestion of the majority. Although the former has been considered, the latter hasn’t been pushed down the heights. A party will eventually be formed, they said, but “after a struggle for Swaraj at the grassroots level for six months,” reported NDTV.

“One opinion is that everything is fine with party leadership and we should trust them, while the other is we should struggle or form another party,” Yogendra Yadav was quoted by the Times of India as saying.

The AAP strongly refuted the new organization of the rebel-duo and hinted at actions against the two, though Yadav said in Tuesday’s press conference that he would not quit the party.

“Swaraj Samvad is not a party function. The Political Affairs Committee and the National Executive will decide on what action needs to be taken,” said senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh.
