The West Indies cricket board announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming tour of India scheduled to be held in the next month. The West Indies cricket team will be playing two test matches here although the venue and the exact dates are yet to be announced. The selection committee of West Indies cricket opted to rest their captain Dwayne Bravo and big-hitter Kieron Pollard. All-rounder Darren Sammy has been given the responsibility of captaining the side. Fast bowler Kirk Edwards has been recalled into the squad along with Kieran Powell. Experienced Shivranine Chanderpaul and Chris Gayle will also be a part of the touring side.
The absence of Bravo and Pollard will no doubt weaken the West Indies side and will ease up a things a bit. This series will surely provide a good practice for the Indian side ahead of the South Africa series away from home. This series will also gain a historical significance as Sachin Tendulkar will be coming out for his 200th test match when he will be playing the second match. The arrangement of this test series has been made so that the Master Blaster gets an opportunity to play his 200th test match in front of the home crowd.
