Manchester City wins; looks set for second title in three years

It was yet another stellar performance from the blue half of Manchester to get past the miserable red half. The mid-week encounter ended with the score line of 3-0 in favour of Manchester City. Edin Dzeko scored twice while Yaya Toure followed up his weekend hat-trick against Fulham with a driving shot from just inside the penalty box in the 90th minute to complete the humiliation for Manchester United.

Manchester city beat Manchester United 3-0The result could be predicted much before the match had begun. The only question was by what margin. It was only three, could have been much more but because of ManU’s goalkeeper David De Gea who became the wall between the Man City players and the Man Utd goal line for three times at least. The first goal which came as early as in the 2nd minute of the match gave De Gea absolutely no chance as Man City forwards caught the United defense off-guard. United tried to stage a comeback through the likes of Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata but the City defense stood tall. The second half began almost in similar fashion, but this time Man City took 11 minutes to score. Dzeko was on target again as United defense was once again caught napping during the flag-kick. Yaya Toure put an end to this oppression which continued for 90 minutes just few minutes before the final whistle when his low driving shot found the back of the net.

With this defeat Manchester United’s chance of making the Champions League next year is slowly fading away. On the other hand Manchester City with such a moral boosting win over the city rivals are looking good for winning the title for the second time in three years and ensure that the title does not leave Manchester this season as well.
