Good news for Indian athletes as they can now participate in upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi. IOC has cleared Indian Olympic Association after they complied with the ethics rules.
“We think that is a major step in the right direction. We are now looking forward to the implementation of the new rules by transparent and open and democratic elections in the Indian Olympic Association,” IOC President Thomas Bach said.
India was in verge to become the first country expelled from the Olympics over 40 years. IOC suspended IOA in December last year after its secretary-general Lalit Bhanot was convicted for corruption charges related to 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games.
