India takes firm control of the second test

Cheteshwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma slam individual centuries as India takes the driver’s seat against West Indies at the end of the second day’s play of the second test match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. At stumps WI looks to be in real trouble as they still trail India’s first innings lead of 313 runs by 270. They have lost 3 wickets in the form of Kieran Powell, Darren Bravo and night watchman Tino Best with only 43 runs on the board.

Earlier in the day India took total control of the match right from the very first ball of the day as overnight not out batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara and Sachin Tendulkar carried on from where they left. Tendulkar went out for 74, much to disbelieve of the fans across the world as he was playing beautifully before edging Deonarine to Sammy in the first slip. Then Virat Kohli came on and with Pujara steadied the ship as India lead crossed the 100-run mark. Pujara went on to score another hundred as Kohli got out cheaply after completing his half century.

It was yet another brilliant innings from Rohit Sharma that saw India’s lead soaring up to 300. Sharma, first with Ravichandran Ashwin, and then with number 11 Mohammad Shami built up good partnerships as India surged ahead to such a position from where they cant lose the match. Sharma completed his second test century in as many matches through a big six over long on. India’s innings came to an end when Tino Best held on to a good catch in the deep as Shami tried to play slog sweep.

As of now, chances of the match going into the third day are distant possibilities. The WI batsmen have to do something out of the world to force India bat for the second time. India on the other hand will surely try to wrap up things as early as possible.

The countdown has begun. 7 more wickets for India and it will bring an end to the career of the greatest icon of the game. A 2-0 series win at home. Nothing can get better than this for Sachin Tendulkar who has served India throughout his life and wanted to see his country at the top of the world.
