Dhoni’s Bat Goes For a £100,000 in Auction

Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s bat created history on April when he hits a six to take the winning stroke to give India world cup after 28 years of drought. That historic bat of Indian Cricket Team’s cool captiatn MSD had once more created history when it fetch £100,000 at charity auction held in London. Dhoni made 91 runs with the sold bat in the final world cup cricket against Sri Lanka earlier this year.

At the function Dhoni launched his charitable foundation, ‘Winning Ways Today for Tomorrow’, which will help cricket flourish in areas where children hail from poor socio-economic backgrounds.

“The charity will look to continue its dedication to improving children’s accessibility to cricket by building a sports academy where children will be able to develop their talents across a whole range of disciplines,” Dhoni said. He also told that the new sports academy in Ranchi for which the Jharkhand Government has allocated a plot of land, will enable children of all backgrounds to hone their skills.

Along with Dhoni’s bat there was famous artist Sacha Jafri’s Original Artwork also went under the hammer and raised 250,000 pounds. A bound copy of the original script of Bollywood blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’ went for 17,500 pounds. The auction raised 450,000 pounds,

Earlier, in the panel discussion Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, said, “The best moment of my life was when we beat Pakistan to qualify for the semifinal.” And talking about his next target, Harbhajan said he is hopeful to get 800 wickets in his career.
