BWF nominated Saina Nehwal for Female Player of the Year

World number 2 and Olympics Bronze medallist India’s Saina Nehwal has been nominated for the ‘Best Female Player of the Year 2012’ by Badminton World Federation on Wednesday.

BWF nominated Saina Nehwal for Female Player of the YearChina has dominated the category with four of its players have been nominated for the award.

Olympic silver medalist Wang Yihan, Olympic doubles champion Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei and Olympic Champion Li Xuerui w have been nominated for the award.

World No.1 and Li Xuerui who had won eight titles in 2012, is the favourite to win the title.

Saina Nehwal had won Indonesia Open Super Series Premier, Denmark Open Super Series Premier, Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold, and the Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold along with Olympic bronze medal in 2012.

In the Male category two-time Olympic gold medallist China’s Lin Dan and World No.1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia will compete for the award.

The award ceremony will be held on May 18 in Kuala Lumpur.
