West Indies brought back the memories from the past when their fast bowlers used to rule the world of cricket in their second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 against Pakistan. It was an exhibition of devastating fast bowling from the Windies fast bowlers, especially Jerome Taylor and Jason Holder that laid the platform for an emphatic victory against Pakistan.

West Indies batted first and set up a total of 310/6 in 50 overs. Chris Gayle once again failed to make an impression with the bat but the other batsmen contributed equally that enabled West Indies to get past the 300-run mark. Denesh Ramdin top scored for the Carribeans with 51 runs. Lendl Simmons backed up his century in the last match with another half-century. Andre Russell later on launched an assault on the Pakistan bowling attack that saw him score 42 runs off just 13 balls and it was this innings that pushed the West Indian total beyond what would have been a par score on a good batting pitch in Christchurch.

Pakistan made a horrible start to their innings as they lost 4 wickets with just 1 run on the board broke the record of the worst start made by any team in a world cup match. Soon they were down to 25-5 when they lost their Mr. Dependable Misbah-ul-Haq with 276 runs still required to win the match. The match was well but over by then. Umar Akmal (59) and Shoaib Maqsood (50) delayed the inevitable with some brave batting. Shahid Afridi also failed to make much of an impact and got out for 28. And the Pakistanis were eventually all out for 160 that saw them losing their second match by 150 runs. Jerome Taylor was the pick of the West Indian bowlers as he returned with figures of 7-1-15-3. It was his swing bowling which the Pakistani batsmen found too hot to handle. Jason Holder backed him with some disciplined bowling from the other end that fetched couple of wickets in his 7 overs that he bowled.

Suddenly Pakistan is staring at an early exit at the world cup. Although there is a long way to go in the tournament but if they don’t pull themselves up before their next one cannot rule out that possibility. Also the fact that Ireland and Zimbabwe are also playing good cricket it might just really interesting towards the end in Group B.
