Narendra Modi presents his ‘idea of India’

Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s speech at the party’s national council meet in New Delhi on Sunday will go down as one of his best political speech in recent times. In his over one hour long speech, Modi tried to present his vision for India based on ideological framework of equality, growth and economical development.

ModiChallenging Rahul Gandhi’s last week speech at AICC meet where he focused on subsidies, Modi on Sunday said if elected then his government will tackle problems of poverty and unemployment with good governance, transparent delivery, high growth and equity.

“For the country to progress, it is important to focus on good governance,” Modi told party workers.

In his constructive speech Modi said the upcoming general election would be decisive and it is a “vote for India”.

“Nowadays, a new phraseology is in vogue and I want to discuss it. Some people are saying ‘my idea of India’. Now, 1.25 billion Indians can have their idea of India. It is not the jagir (estate) of any one. The idea cannot be tied down,” Modi said.

“Today, we are going into the 2014 election and it time to vote for India…This is not an election to change the government, but an election of hope and change,” Modi said.

Modi presented ‘Rainbow idea’ for branding India with 5-Ts – talent, tradition, tourism, trade and technology. He promised 100 smart cities, dual-cities, Institutes like IITs, IIMs and an AIIMS in every state.

Modi has also presented his vision to fight inflation. He has suggested several methods including launching a “Price Stabilisation Fund” to help the common man to fight price rise.  He promised setting up a real-time databank for products, national agriculture market and special courts to deal with black marketers.

BJP national meet“If the governments of Vajpayeeji and Morarji Desai could stop price rise, why can’t we? The BJP government in 2014 will do it, I assure you,” he said.

Evoking the black money issue, Modi said if he is elected then his government will do everything to bring back black money and invest on several pro-poor schemes.

“If need be, we will amend the law and also set up a task force for bringing back the money,” Modi said.

To wooing women voters, Mr. Modi said to launch “Beti Bachao” plan against femicide.

“If we view women not as a homemaker but as an equal partner and a nation builder, the country will progress in leaps and bounds,” Modi said.

To reach out to the Chief Ministers of non-congress governments, Modi played a masterstroke when he said his government will ensure setting up a team consisting of the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers to address problems and take the country to new level.

“The Prime Minister and all Chief Ministers will be a team which will take the nation forward,” he said adding, “regional aspirations should not be considered as politics, as seen in the last decade, but should be seen as harbingers of development”.

In his own style Modi took a jibe at Congress and especially not announcing Rahul Gandhi as their PM candidate.

“Will a mother ever sacrifice her son’s future? Sonia Gandhi decided to protect her son,” Modi dig adding “Congress workers came for a PM and got three cylinders instead.”

“We don’t just need bills, we need political will and a dil (heart)…(we want) not acts, but action, “Modi taunted Rahul.
