Modi addresses Press after Parliamentary Board meeting

 

New Delhi: A day after the BJP-led NDA government registered a stunning and historical win, BJP hold a press conference this afternoon at the Bharatiya Janata Party Headquarters in New Delhi. Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi who addressed people and supporters in Vadodara yesterday, flew down to New Delhi to attend the party’s parliamentary board meet today. He spoke to media today briefly following the party meet.

A large number of supporters along with party leaders were gathered for Narendra Modi to arrive. He was received with warm reception outside the airport. Senior BJP leaders like Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj received Modi with greetings. He was later congratulated by L.K. Advani at the party  BJP_pressert360office where Modi touched his feet seeking blessings. Sweets and flowers too were exchanged in complete pleasure.

After the Parliamentary Board Meet, senior BJP leaders attend the press meet to showcase a united front. Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Nitin Gadkari and Murli Manohar Joshi all were present during the press meet. The Bharatiya Janata Party Chief Rajnath Singh has addressed the media first.

Along with thanking media personnel on behalf of the BJP, Rajnath said that the whole board has welcomed and congratulated Shri Narendra Modi on his remarkable victory.

“In today’s Parliamentary Board meeting we have also decided that the General Assembly Election have happened in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. In these states we are planning to hold elections in which from Arunachal Pradesh Shri. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, from OdishaShri.PrakashJavdekar, from Andhra Pradesh Ravi Shankar Prasad and from TelanganaShri.JagatPratap will be standing,” he said.

He further added, “And you all know that as the Chief Minister of Gujrat who has played a fantastic role and has also acclaimed national as well as International repute, Shri. NarendraModi has been accepted as the Prime Minister of this country. So it’s obvious that we will have to hold an election. The Central Parliamentary Board has appointed me for it. But to know the opinion of the MLA’s there as well as to conduct the elections of the Legislature Party Thawar Chand Gehlot, the All India General Secretary has been sent there as an observer. Also, Shri. Om Mathur will be with him.”

Speaking about the Parliamentary Board meeting, Rajnath Singh said, “In the meeting of the Parliamentary Board we have also decided that on the 20th at 12 ‘o’ clock there will be a meeting of the BJP’s Parliamentary Party. And in this meeting on the BJP Parliamentary Party, we will hold an election of the leader of the Parliamentary Party. By the way it is not necessary to say who the leader will be. Yet this formality will be completed on that day only. After that all the allies of the NDA will be invited.”

Modi_Advani_hug_360“Regarding the oath ceremony, I want to clarify that the different speculations going in media are wrong. We have not taken any decision on the oath ceremony. It is only after the election of the Parliamentary Party Leader that we will decide the dates for the oath ceremony,” Rajnath Singh said as he passed over the mike to Narendra Modi.

In his brief speech to media Narendra Modi thanked people of India for choosing NDA.

“Saluting the countrymen, I thank all the Indian voters. I’ve got an opportunity to meet the media persons in this big numbers. I am also thankful to the media for they have played a crucial role in creating awareness for voting. And, these important phases of the Indian Democracy – the elections, have concluded with utmost excitness and jubilance. In this too the media has played a special role,” Modi said.

Modi was absolutely humble and thanked the media for their coverage as well as the citizens for voting the BJP. This Press Meet was unique as the senior BJP leaders shared the same podium. After this press meet, Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Varanasi. There he will be performing Ganga puja. Atmosphere in Varanasi too is celebratory and a sea of supporters are waiting to welcome their leader Narendra Modi
