On the day his government collapsed a year ago, the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal swore in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi, after a clear mandate stood him victorious in the assembly polls. The oath ceremony took place at 12:15 pm, Saturday, at the Ramlila ground in the capital, as an enthusiastic crowd poured in to witness Kejriwal’s swearing-in ceremony.

He took oath under the administration of Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung. With this, he becomes the eighth chief minister of the national capital.

Kejriwal, who was keeping terribly ill since some days in the past, made it to the swearing-in ceremony, sharp at 12. Meanwhile, AAP cola were served to the masses who had gathered at the ground, devotedly awaiting for the leader to turn up.

Simultaneously, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and other ministers Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendra Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitendra Singh Tomar were sworn-in, following which, the CM addressed the gathering by stating, “’People from everywhere, all religions, castes, rich and poor, voted for us. Last time, we had romanticism, but this time, we are confident that we can remove corruption from Delhi in 5 years.’

Kejriwal further assured the businessmen about the non-harrassment of any kind by the officials except for polite requests to be made by them regarding the taxes. Referring to Kiran Bedi, the BJP’s CM Candidate who lost the polls, as an older sister, he sought both, her help and guidance, as well as that of Ajay Maken, Congress CM Candidate who lost too.

Apart from  entirely eradicating corruption, the significant promise that Kejriwal made was to end the VIP culture in the capital. Praising AAP workers, who consistently and devotedly worked for a better Delhi, Kejriwal referred them to gems.

He wished luck to the Indian Cricket Team warned the crowd about not being a good singer, plus having a sour throat, before eventually concluding his speech with shouts of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ and ‘Vande Mataram’
