Govt cancels licence of 15 TV channels

Government has cancelled the licence of 15 regional channels for violating the licensing rules and regulations.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcast has also suspended the license of seven other TV channels for one month after they found compromising the licensing conditions. Govt has also sent notice to 38 channels.

“We have also issued notices to about 38 channels that have made changes in their shareholding pattern or board of directors without informing the ministry,” I&B secretary U K Varma said.

After West Bangal Saradha group scam, I&B ministry issued a notice to all 877 channels to reveal its ownership and management information.
