84-year-old Florida woman wins $ 590 million jackpot

Gloria Mackenzie, the 84-year old Florida women has reportedly won the $ 590.5 million Powerball lottery, the second largest US jackpot in the country.

Mackenzie purchased the two-dollar tickets at a Publix supermarket in the small city of Zephyrhills.

“We bought the winning ticket as a single ticket even though we bought four other tickets before the drawing. While in line at Publix, another lottery player was kind enough to let me go ahead of them in line to purchase the winning Quick Pick ticket,” Mackenzie said in a statement.

According to Florida Lottery Secretary Cynthia O’Connell, Gloria Mackenzie has chosen lump-sum cash payment of $ 370.9 million on-the-spot and refused to accept full winning amount spread out over 30 years.
