Karzai says he will not sign security deal if drone attacks continue

United States faces warnings from Afghanistan as President Hamid Karzai said he will not sign the long-term security agreement with US if it continues drone attack in the country. Hamid Karzai accused US drone attack on Thursday killed a 2-year-old child and injured two women.

Karzai says he will not sign security deal if drone attacks continue“This attack shows that American forces are not respecting the life and safety of Afghan people’s houses,” Karzai said in a statement.

“For years, our innocent people have become victims of the war under the name of terrorism, and they have had no safety in their homes,” Karzai added.

Confirming the attack the U.S.-led international coalition said, “Deeply regrets any civilian causalities caused by this airstrike yesterday. ISAF is committed to ensuring that all measures are taken to prevent civilian causalities.”

“We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those killed or wounded,” the statement added.

The incident is likely to added President Karzai’s unwillingness to sign the security agreement with US which will allow around 15,000 U.S. troops to remain in Afghanistan after 2014. Earlier Karzai said Afghanistan will sign the deal after the election next year. Us is pressuring Karzai to sign the agreement within this year, otherwise they will have to pull out all troops from Afghanistan.
