78 Christians killed in Peshawar attack

At least 78 people including 34 women and 7 children had been killed in a deadly suicide attack on a church in Peshawar in northwestern Pakistan on Sunday. This is one of the worst attacks on Pakistani minority in decades.

The twin blast occurred during food distribution afetr Sunday morning service where over 600 people were present. More than 100 injured including 37 children.

“Such an attack on women and children is against humanity,” Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said.

Pope Francis condemned the blast.

“Today, in Pakistan, because of a wrong choice, a decision of hatred, of war, there was an attack in which 70 people died. This choice cannot stand. It serves nothing. Only the path of peace can build a better world,” Pope said.
