Celebrating Love Together

With an exclusive theme of inclusiveness, Mumbai’s prestigious Ramnarain Ruia College celebrated Rose Day 2015 with great zeal, fervor and ardour. Carrying ahead the tradition of Rose Day – a day when they all come together as one and celebrate love – the college remarkably went a step ahead to promote significantly, a beautiful message of including everyone, regardless of their gender or sexuality.

Accepting and loving people for the way they are was the central message that this day sent out, as the open-minded college students organized the event with this particular theme.

The event that commenced in the noon went on till the evening, on Saturday, with students of the college enjoying to the beats and tunes of the DJ. The event was graced by Mr Sushant Digvikar, Mr Gay India – 2014 and reality TV show Bigg Boss contestant, and Mr Harish Iyer, a prominent face of the LGBTQ movement.

Rose King and Queen competition was organized too; final round of which was held after the DJ. Mst Ameya Narkar and Animesh Jadhav were crowned as the Rose Kings and Ms Nidhi Dongre was crowned as the Rose Queen, while the enthusiastic crowd kept cheering the winners.

Furthermore, euphoria and glee amongst the students only elevated as the day progressed and the event went on. Following the Rose King-Queen event, as students took it to the dance floor again, rains commenced, adding to the elation, that then reached the epitome.

“Rose Day – 2015 was beautiful. The decor put up by the Publicity team was incredible and colorful, and one couldn’t help but smile as soon as one entered. It was an amazing event and I felt extremely good to be a part of it,” said Madhurima Khadilkar, a student of the college.

Another student, Saee Kanade said, “It was great because the theme chosen was really good and something about which we need to spread awareness. It was so good to see people supporting equality and acceptance.”
