Your next ‘Ki & Ka’ is all set to release. how’s ‘Ka’ happened to you?

Well! Director R Balki had approached me with two ideas, one was completely romantic and the second was ‘Ki & Ka’. I felt the film is Rom-com in genre and in Bollywood it’s very saturated. But then this story idea strikes me and felt it was amazingly unique. I did much of Dark Shades or can say my first movie was negative in role. I wanted to go beyond Rom-Coms much and film like ‘Ki & Ka’ helps an actor to explore himself. This film too is romantic but it has completely other take on subject like love & marriages.

Let’s talk little about your gender reversal role, have you felt uneasy while living it on-screen?

The film deals with a boy who believes housewives have not got their due. I loved the subject raised in this film says that Housewives run the home and sacrifice a lot but many people forget that. If you don’t have stability in your personal life through your partner then you cannot achieve anything professionally. I as the homemaker in the film doesn’t meant I am not portraying myself as man, it’s all says that it’s individual choice to choose their set of work after marriage with respect. The guy in the film wants to be a homemaker because he believes women make home and fulfill dreams. It’s an emotional issue which will create a change in every possible mind. If a man is lesser ambitious then there is nothing wrong to be homemaker also.

Woman should not be enforced by any of the decision in this male dominating world. There have been talks about equality, so it’s the hard time to prove it. This film in a very classy way says that if you have talent then gender doesn’t matter.

Talking about marriages, what’s your take on it?

Marriages are beautiful! (Smiles) I don’t know why marriages are portrayed like the end of everything. Nobody sees the beautiful starting it gives to both. I feel marriage can be real fun. But for me, it will be too soon to talk about marriage because I don’t think I have the luxury of a personal life. Whenever I’ll think to step ahead for marriage this film turns to be big help for me. The film made me learnt to cook and sweep for the character that I played. Not much, but now I can surely prepare breakfast for my wife. (Laughs)

What does love means to you? What are you looking for in a girl?

For me, Love is complete happiness, bonding, friendship and compatibility. If you feel happiness within then it must be love.

My girl should be intelligent enough and talking sense is must. She should have dignity and grace. I like a strong woman who keeps me mentally concentrated and intrigued. I hate if a girl behaves in stupid manner.

Other side of it is that the profession I belong is extreme demanding. Being an actor I belong to everyone, I have to be in public, on shoots, for promotions. I can’t be calling my director to excuse from shooting just to stay with my wife at nights. She must understand my work as it’s not easy to make out the place I am today in B’town. That’s the basic reason most of the actors get involved with co-stars and actresses because they share the same pressure. We need to travel every now and then, we stay away for days.. theirs is no normal life for us!

After Stepping in shoes of a housewife, how much of your ideology changes in terms of women?

I have always respected women and now I can relate more with them. Since my childhood I have had more women around me. I’ve always been close to my mother and after her to my sister. My mother is not there anymore otherwise she would be the first person I would take guidance for my films, but now sister fits that space, she reacts like an audience. She appreciates and criticizes my work equally.

Coming to the film, yes! The film has helped me change my thinking. I feel all men stays involved into their work and ignore their homemakers. But the reality behind that they are the one who wake up early so that we can go out and work without stress. This film will motivate all men to at least appreciate them.

You often presumed to be an arrogant star kid, does stardom affected you?

I may appear khadoos to people who are personally aren’t associated with me. What to do, I have series ‘Gunda’ type face (Laughs). I am not very open person, it take time to get comfortable within the set of people. While I was promoting my first film ‘Ishqzaade’ my mother passed away. Because of it, I spoke less in media and they took it as my attitude and so called arrogance. I genuinely like making people laugh, I am a fun person. I started trying to break that image now. I’ve been in the industry over two years I’ve started opening up to the media and industry more. Recently, while shooting ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’, some kids came up to me and praised me for my sense of humor and fun image in the show. That made me feels very happy!
