In a surprise move, Vikram Pandit, CEO of Citigroup steps down on Tuesday. His resignation comes as a shock to many as only on Monday Citigroup reports strong quarterly income in US.

The Chairman of Citigroup, Michael O’Neill issued a statement which says, Michael Corbat, chief executive for Europe, Middle East and Africa, would succeed Vikram Pandit as CEO.

Along with Pandit, COO of company John Havens also resigned.

The duos immediate and surprising steps down raised many eyebrows. It may increase the uncertainty in the number 3 bank of US.
