Star Won Indian Cricket Broadcast Rights

BCCI president N Srinivasan announced earlier this week that Star group will be the new TV broadcast partner for Indian Cricket Team.  BCCI has evaluated the media rights and Star has won the broadcast and digital rights for 6 years in India.  Last year BCCI had terminated Nimbus’ contract due to default on payments.

Star has beaten Sony’s bidding amount and won the rights at 3851crores for covering 96 matches with an average of Rs 40 crore per match. Star will also cover domestic matches including Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, Irani Trophy.

The contract will begin from July 2012.
