Sony to finally go domestic with manufacturing

Sony has finally decided to roll up its sleeves and manufacture in India after almost a decade of imports. Consequently, it will also source televisions from a company in Chennai, owned by a Taiwanese contract major with the name Foxconn.
“Sony India has commenced manufacturing of Bravia televisions on original equipment manufacturing partnership with Competition Team Technology (India) in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu. In the initial phase, we will start manufacturing two models, both Android TVs,” Kenichiro Hibi, MD of Sony India told TOI.
Thanks to the “Make In India” campaign, manufacturing in India has made it look reliable and promising, they decided to manufacture locally, here in India.
This company which has recorded the revenue of ? 10,600 crore last year, is still in double mind decide on the local manufacturing of its mobile phones.
“India is an important and a strategic market for Sony and this development underlines our continued commitment to this market as well as our alignment with the government’s Make in India’s programme. ” said Hibi.
