DoT to send Rs. 650 crore penalty notice to Airtel

According to TOI the department of telecommunications (DoT) is going to issue a notice of Rs. 650 crore penalty to Bharti Airtel for violation of roaming services.

The violation in  licence agreement by Airtel took place between 2003 and 2005 for providing Subscriber Local Dialling (SLD) service.

“As all these cases are being monitored/litigated at highest level in government/judiciary, any kind of further delay may not be appreciated. These cases are being closely monitored by CVC/CVO also for early compliance,” TOI quoted an internal DoT note.
