Legendary playback Singer PB Srinivas Passes Away

Renowned South Indian playback singer P.B. Srinivas Passed away at his CIT Nagar residence on Sunday. He was 82. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.

Legendary playback Singer PB Srinivas Passes Away“He was not keeping well for the last few days. He had difficulty in breathing. He passed away at his residence in Saidapet,” said a family member.

Srinivas aka PBS sang over 3,000 songs in his career. He had sung in twelve languages including Hindi. His most famous songs were for Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan and Kannada actor Rajkumar.

Some of his popular songs include ‘Yaar yaar avar yaaro’, ‘Neeli kannula needala lona’ and ‘Ellu hogalla’. His last recording was for the Tamil film ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ in 2010.

Srinivas had received numerous awards and honours including Andhra Pradesh Government’s Kalaimamani Award.
In a condolence message Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said, “PBS can also mean Playback Singer. His death is an irreparable personal loss to me and to the film world as a whole”.
