Actor Farooq Sheikh passes away

Farooq SheikhVeteran actor Farooq Sheikh passed away on Friday night in Dubai due to heart attack. He was 65.

Better known for his roles in parallel cinema, Farooq Sheikh was born on March 25, 1948 in Gujarat. His first major Hindi film was ‘Garm Hava’ in 1973. He had worked with several noted filmmakers of the country in his long career. Some of his popular films were Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Yash Chopra banner’s Noorie and Sai Paranjpye’s Chashme Buddoor. His last film was ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ where he played the role of Ranbeer Kapoor’s father.

His last right will be performed in Mumbai later today.
