47 Ronin – One of the Biggest Flops

47 Ronin – one of the highly speculated movies starred by Keanu Reeves has fallen flat. Universal Pictures has also acknowledged the bomb at the box-office disclosing that it’s taken the unusual step of writing down some if its $175 million cost prior to the current quarter.

“47 Ronin” is projected to earn under $20 million through Sunday — the worst debut for a $150 million-plus movie in 2013. Universal has confirmed the writedown but has not disclosed the size. The movie opened Christmas Day in the U.S. with a soft $7 million at 2,688 locations, finishing sixth. Internationally, the film has opened in 14 territories for a total of $10 million through Wednesday.

It has become on the biggest flops of 2013.
