Jnanpith Award conferred to Gulzar

India’s highest literary honour, the 58th Jnanpith Award for the year 2023, has been conferred to one of the most celebrated authors of our time, Gulzar. Gulzar is poet, lyricist, author, screenwriter, and film director –  a man with many talents. Aged at almost 90 years, he is still penning down mesmerizing words on white papers.

It is indeed a proud moment for the country to celebrate Gulzar’s successful career as a creative mastermind. His Urdu or Hindi poetry, his playing with words, spellbound crores of readers across the globe.

He was awarded with the Sahitya Akademi Award – Hindi in 2002. The government of India awarded him with the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in India in 2004. He was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2013 which is the highest award in Indian cinema. He also won many international awards including Oscars and Grammy Awards.

He is a true legend. We wish him all the best.
