An alliance between Ramvilas Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party and Narendra Modi’s BJP has been finalised in Bihar for the next Lok Sabha polls.
LJP party leader Surajbhan Singh has confirmed the news by saying, “Alliance between LJP and BJP has been finalised.”
LJP is an old NDA ally which left the group in 2002 protesting against Gujarat riots. Incidentally the LJP will now go to the voters to elect Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
“When the court has given a clean chit to Modi, who are we to say anything,” Surajbhan Singh said.
“Court has cleared Modi on 2002 riots, so it’s a non issue, LJP leader and Ram Vilas Paswan’s son Chirag Paswan added.
According to the party Paswan will meet BJP President Rajnath Singh next week to discuss the strategies.
Reacting to the development, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said, “I am not blind. I see everything and exclusion is not our policy. Had it been so, we would not have helped Paswan in his difficult days.”
This is also a big blow to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his party. The alliance between LJP and BJP could hurt his chances most and JD(U) may end up feeling sorry for the Nitish decision to quit NDA over the announcing of Narendra Modi as prime ministerial candidate.
