Displaying their anger and discontent against Shobha De’s comment on the Maharashtra government’s diktat for Cinerma owners, the Shiv Sena on Thursday, protested outside author and columnist Shobha De’s house in Mumbai. Sena workers, objecting to her ‘anti-Maharashtra’ tweets, launched a protest outside De’s house in South Mumbai,

The Mumbai police had already sent a team of officers and had put up barricades outside De’s house.

“Police barricades are up! I am feeling perfectly calm and safe! Thank you, Mumbai Police,” Shobha De said in a tweet. Later, speaking to reporters, she said, “I am not worried.”

Shiv Sena attacked and slammed the author for opposing the screening of Marathi films at prime time. She was also slammed for not respecting her own culture.

Sena said on Thrusday that if Bal Thackeray had not done “dadagiri” to preserve Marathi culture, her forefathers would “have been born in Pakistan” and she would have “attended Page-3 parties in a burqa”.

Reacting to Maharashtra government’s controversial move to make it compulsory for all multiplexes to screen Marathi movies in the prime time slot, De had tweeted,”I love Marathi movies. Let me decide when and where to watch them, Devendra Fadnavis. This is nothing but Dadagiri.”

Sena charged her for a breach of privilege motion as they were offended by her tweet on the Maharashtra government’s decision.
