PM Modi Spends Time With Soldiers at Siachen Ahead of Srinagar Visit: 10 Developments

As announced earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has began his diwali day in Jammu and Kashmir.

His day started on Thursday morning with spending time with soldiers in Siachen, the world’s highest warzone.

narendra_s_650_102314083538Earlier PM Modi tweeted, “Friends, I am leaving for the Siachen Glacier. It’s my good fortune that I will be able to spend time with our brave soldiers on this special day.”

Paying tribute to the soldiers, Modi twitted, “Be it the altitude or bitter cold, nothing deters our soldiers. They stand there, serving our Nation. They make us truly proud.”

He will later visit capital Srinagar and will meet people in the relief camp who have been affected in worst flood the state since independence. He will review the rehabilitation works there and expected to announce relief package before returning to Delhi this evening.

Incidentally he is the first Prime Minister who has visited Siachen in a decade.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appreciated Modi’s decision to spend diwali in J&K.

“Let’s just appreciate that @narendramodi is in Srinagar on his festival & not at home celebrating as he normally would have been doing (sic),” he tweeted.
