The celebrated director Tom McCarthy is on for a “BIG” project now. The director noted for his indies as The Visitor and The Station Agent is on to reel a graphic novel.
And, it is none other than Tommysauraus Rex – the famous graphic novel by Doug TenNapel. The script will be co-written by McCarthy and John Bland. The movie will be produced by Disruption Entertainment along with Goldsmith-Vein and Lee Stollman of the Gotham Group.
Published in 2004, Rex tells the story of a boy, already disrupted with the death of his pet dog and peer bullying, who discovers a T.rex in a cave and must prove to the townspeople that this new pet isn’t the harmful beast they think it is.
Universal, after initially buying the rights in 2004, put it in the in-the-making for long. Many directors including David O. Russell or Tom Shadyac was named to be associated at one point of the time or other.
The movie may be McCarthy’s next release after The Cobbler.
