Sequel to Layer Cake : Jason Statham replaces Daniel Craig

Layer Cake, the movie, which was released in 2004, with a stellar performance from Daniel Craig, is now in talks to extend the franchise.

The movie, one of the if not the breakthrough in Craig’s career, was also a milestone in the career of director Matthew Vaughn. But, when the sequel is in works, none of them is involved in the same.

Viva La Madness, which was published in 2012, by J.J. Connolly, continues the story of Layer Cake’s unnamed protagonist, who now finds himself involved with Venezuelan drug cartels when looking for a place to retire. The author himself is writing the screenplay.

And, surprisingly, this time, Jason Statham is being in talks for the lead.
