Vidya Balan to play a female detective in Bobby Jasoos

Vidya Balan is set to play the lady detective of upcoming ‘Bobby Jasoos’ which will be released in summer of 2014.

Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha will produce the movie under Born Free Entertainment banner.

“The idea of playing a female detective was irresistible. Also, the movie title intrigued me. I’ve known Dia and Sahil for years now. They are the kind of producers every actor wants to work with. But the final clincher for me was Sanyuktha Chawla’s script and director Samar Shaikh. It kept me hooked and I am really looking forward to working with them,” Vidya said.

“She (Vidya) was an obvious choice. She is a powerhouse performer who has not been seen in such a space. Also, there are several layers to the character — she’s inquisitive, curious, intelligent, an out-of-the-box thinker and quick on her feet — and it just syncs so well with Vidya’s personality,” Dia said.

“Vidya’s presence will definitely make the film even more interesting for the audience. Bobby Jasoos is the first of three scripts we have been working on. I’m confident that the next one will follow soon, given our focus on developing pure and entertaining content for a universal audience,” Sahil added.
