Ohh no, I broke my sunglasses! OMG, I forgot my business card!

You sure don’t want to experience such ‘Oh No’ moments while travelling, whether on a business or a leisure trip. We have a checklist for you to ensure a smooth & happy travel experience.

Here are some TIPS for you:

  1. Stay safe and healthy when you are travelling new places.
  2. Carry proper maps or follow guided directions while exploring new locations. Always use certified guides for sightseeing.
  3. Read the Local news and keep yourself updated.
  4. Do not leave your cash, card, mobile and any other valuables in the hotel rooms.
  5. Carry plenty of water and fruits in bag.
  6. Please do not trust strangers with money or information.
  7. Lock your bags from tampering or burglary. Don’t leave your bags unattended in public place or in the care of a stranger.
  8. Don’t carry anything for strangers while travelling.
  9. Women travelling alone should avoid walking in new places at nights.
  10. Take your medicines with yourself when travel. Carry some emergency medicines like Fever, Cold, Nausea etc. with you.
  11. Carry proper paper bag with you for disposal. Do not carry plastics.
  12. While traveling, don’t act confused. Be confident and keep your eyes open.
  13. Public transports like trains and buses are the best and cheapest option if you are traveling intra cities.
  14. It is advisable to arrive one hour before scheduled departure at the railway station and at least one and half hour at the airport in case of domestic flights.
  15. Keep you r luggage chained and locked under your berth in a train. Don’t keep anything valuable near the window.
  16. Don’t eat anything offered by fellow passengers on train or on road travels.
  17. Avoid discussing religion or any sensitive topics with strangers.
  18. Do not enter a temple, mosque, tomb, dargah or Gurudwara with shoes on or meagerly dressed.
  19. Do not give money to beggars.
  20. In any unnatural situations contact emergency numbers
  • The most important tip – Breathe. Take in the amazing aroma of the forest which is the purest form of nature.
  • Do a good research about the forest you are visiting. Listen to the guide & follow their instructions strictly.
  • Be informed about the kind of animals & insects existing there.
  • Keep a stock of medication. Pain killers, bandages, anti septic cream & liquid, and other important drugs. Also keep mosquito repellent tubes.
  • Go fully covered from top to bottom for minimum impacts of insect bites in the forest.
  • Don’t litter the place. Keep minimum goods in your backpack apart from the food & essentials.
  • Carry a torch, lighter, matchbox & knife. Keep extra cells for the torch.
  • Before packing for the forest travel, make sure your tent is not damaged. Learn properly how to build the tent. Set it up before the sun sets in.
  • Though you might have a guide, keep a map handy. In case you lose track, it may prove to be helpful. Keep a compass for a better location idea.
  • Wear forest boots & also carry raincoats for extreme weather conditions.
  •  Don’t overeat, drink enough water & get good amount of sleep to get you going.
  • Always walk in groups. Don’t alienate a single person out of your group.
  • Keep extra pair of trekking shoes & make sure they are comfortable to you.
  • Mosquito repellents should be kept handy.
  • Carry a first aid box with all the necessary medicines for emergency.
  • Carry a map of the place you are travelling.
  • Find a stick that you can use as support while you trek along.
  • Keep stock of water & energy bites to keep yourself going.
  • Keep a track of weather of the area you are trekking, wear an outfit accordingly.
  • Keep 2 pairs of sunglasses/specs, in case you break or lose one.
  • Try to keep your backpack as light as possible.
  • Carry a torch, lighter, knife & rope. They might be of help quite often.
  • A sunhat & a couple of dry socks are good to carry. Also try to apply sunscreen at regular intervals.
  • Charge all your electricals, say camera & mobile phones.
  • Don’t forget to click some memorable pictures to reminisce in the future!

Plan the trip in the late winter and early spring. Fall time is also another best time to visit the desert. But never plan your trip in mid-summer or in mid-winter.

  • Carry sufficient water with yourself. Drink even when you are not thirsty.
  • Carry enough foods and fruits.
  •  Avoid exposure to the sun in the desert. To prevent serious sunburns and heat stroke it is advisable to wear a hat, sunscreen and dark sunglasses.
  • Do not forget to reapply sunscreen from time to time to any exposed areas.
  •  Wear light cloths. White colour or any light colour dresses are preferable.
  • Carry good insect repellent with you.
  • Carry trash containers for garbage and trash.
  • Do not trust any stranger no matter how friendly he seems.
  • Try to avoid sleeping on the uncovered ground.
