These are the things many wish to do this monsoon

Monsoon being the season which everyone eagerly await, we went around and asked people what are the activities they were looking forward to try out during this monsoon, and we got some interesting answers.

The Indian monsoons have already begun and if you have been among the ones longing to enjoy the beautiful lush greens, getting soaked in the rain and enthralled by the cool, breezy weather, then these are a few activities that you cannot afford to miss.

Trekking and Hiking –

This was among one of the most common replies from the people we spoke to. Guess we have a lot of adventurous souls amongst us, don’t we? We have to agree, trekking or hiking up mountains during the cool, windy weather that monsoons bless us with has to be an amazing experience! Yes, you have to be a bit extra careful while trekking up those mountains during the rains, but when you view the lush green forests and the clouds hanging low over your surroundings, it will all be worth it. The sights that monsoons offer us will just keep getting better the higher you view it from!

Trip to a hill station-

Hill stations can be the best, most calming retreats during monsoon. To wake up every day surrounded by clouds, walking through them is like some kind of a dream. I mean, who wouldn’t love a bit of that this rainy season? And to our very good fortunes, India has an abundance of hill stations for us to choose from. From Darjeeling up north to Coorg in the south, you have a variety of locations to pick for this monsoon. There’s just a different beauty to the misty, foggy mornings at these hill stations during the monsoons!

Next to waterfalls –
waterfalls during monsoon
There’s this thing about waterfalls: as pretty as they are, there’s a different, magical feel to them during the monsoons. Who wouldn’t want to enjoy that? Waterfalls just come alive during monsoons — the water gushes and gurgles like it is playing its favorite game, the sights around the waterfalls are prettier and everything just seems straight out of a picture perfect postcard. And yet again, India doesn’t disappoint with all the waterfalls it has to offer. There are the Jog Falls, Dudhsagar Falls, Hogenakkal Falls, Abbey Falls and so many more.

At beaches, enjoying the sights of the sea –
beaches during monsoon
You might say beaches are best enjoyed during a sunny morning with a cool drink to sip on while you view the blue waters. But beaches are so much more peaceful and pretty during monsoons due to the minimal crowds. The sea dances to the beats of the rainfall and makes it all so much more magical. It is best to just be by the beach, doing nothing and enjoying the sights of the sea and the rains adding to the tranquility of it all!

From a bird soaring across the sky to a person sitting at home, child on the streets, those returning from a long hard day at the office – everyone can enjoy this amazing gift of nature, rain!

So you want the best way to enjoy these rains? Just take a moment out of your day, step out, just let go and get wet! Forget everything for that moment. Let that child inside you unleash itself and dance around in the rains to your heart’s content because nothing is more freeing, liberating and enjoyable than that. And hey, it’s free too!

We hope you have an amazing time this monsoon!

About Shreya Chaudhury

First of all, if you are going to use incorrect grammar, steer clear of Shreya Chaudhury. A proper grammar Nazi, a hardcore music enthusiast (never seen without her headphones), a professional baarat dancer and a die hard Jeffrey Archer fan, you will probably find this 17 year old with a novel in hand, day dreaming about all these places she wants to travel in the future.
