Located on the southern tip of north east India, Mizoram has a thick cover of forests of bamboo coupled with diverse wildlife. It shares the border with Bangladesh, Tripura and Burma. It’s known for the cliffs, waterfall, picturesque views and hills. After exploring the hidden treasures of Mizoram you would definitely make it your holiday destination. It will dazzle you with its rich culture, costumes, festivals, dances, flora and fauna.

Talking about the culture and festival, there are many festivals celebrated but out of all two festivals that have attracted tourists the most are Anthurium Festival which to celebrate the beauty of mother nature in Autumn. Anthurium celebrated for 3 days and features the tradition, culture, dance, music, fashion and many more. It also has activities like archery, rifle shooting, and angling. The other festival is the Thalfavangkut festival to celebrate the weeding of field. It gives the chance to the tribal people to show their culture, dance, tradition to everyone present in the festival. In a way this festival promotes different tribe to come up and get acknowledged.
There are four major towns in Mizoram. Starting of with the first and most important is Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram and the city is about 112 years old. Aizawl hosts government offices, state assembly and secretariat office. There are many tourist attractions in Aizawl like The Mizoram State Museum showcasing the beautiful tradition, history and culture of Mizoram and its people, Durtlang Hill on the north side offers a breathtaking view of the Hmuifang Tlang and Reiek Tlang hill stations. Bara Bazar is the main shopping center where people are seen in the traditional wear. Khuangchera Puk caves, the longest cave with 162 m length and 10 m depth is popular amongst adventurous visitor because of its darkness, peculiar acoustics, specific odours etc and Dampa Tiger Reserve situated on the boarder of Bangladesh, is a part of Tiger Project funded by Indian government. Second town is Champhai located on the border, it’s the only plain land in the state. It is a famous tourist destination because of the caves like Lamsial Puk cave which is 9m in length having big wooden boxes containing 300 hundred years old human bones, Tluangtea Puk cave which is the second largest cave, ar Puk/Pine Cave which is 50 m long and 1-2 m wide act as a natural shelter and Murlen National Park with tropical and semi tropical forest and Humes bar- tailed pheasant, Tiger, Hoolock Gibbon, Serrow, Ghoral, Leopard and variety of birds. Third town is the Thenzwal located in the middle of Mizoram having Thenzawl Deer Park, Vantwang Falls, Tuirihiau waterfall. Last one is the Lunglei town located on the south of Mizoram having Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary.

Mizoram also has many adventurous activities like paragliding and trekking to pass the chills and thrills to the visitors.

The best time to visit Mizoram is between October and March.
