Gujarat

If you thought it’s just another place, think again! Why would a personality like Amitabh Bachchan promote Gujarat tourism if so? Now that you are giving Gujarat another thought, let us tell you what’s more to it.

The first thing that comes to the mind is, ‘will the food be good?’ From spicy to sweet to everything you can imagine, you will find it here. People are too friendly to not stand up to your expectations. You tell them & they make the food your way. Secondly, you will never fall short of entertainment in Gujarat. One can only realize how well developed this place is once they get here. From malls to theatres to stage shows, you will find them in plenty. Not a single festival is left behind to be celebrated in full swing. No matter what season, everyday is a festival.

They call Gujarat the safest of them all. Why is that? Because Gujarat is alcohol free! You won’t find that kind of place anywhere else in India, which somehow is a big deal. Once you blend in with the food culture here, alcohol wouldn’t even pass your thoughts. As commonly known, chaas (buttermilk) is the beer of Gujarat.

People are way too enthusiastic to sit idle here. They are either involved in their business/work, enjoying a movie, having bits of khakhras or having a gala time with family. Being a sport is in the blood of Gujarat we can say. If you are visiting here, a stranger would be proud to tell you tales of Gujarat’s achievements & show you around out of will.

Coming to places, Gujarat heritage is the first thing not to be missed. Apart from that, the Great Rann Of Kutch, Saputara, Laxmi Vilas Palace, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Memorial, Kankaria Lake, Somnath, Palitana & Ambaji temples, Sidi Saiyyed Mosque & Jama Masjid are just some of the must visit spots. Kutch is the best place if you decide to go shopping for handicraft. You will be mesmerized by the unique & genuine work. Sabarmati Ashram is where the Dandi March got initiated by Mahatma Gandhi. It is the birthplace of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Vikram Sarabhai & Mahatma Gandhi. With this, you can make out how dedicated & positive the place is.

With 17 airports & frequent train schedules, transporting yourself to get to these places can never be an issue. If you miss out on them, there are numerous luxury buses available at your service. Bringing you on the lighter side, if you are good at mixing up, the person you make friends with in Gujarat will drop you at your destination in return of your friendship.

With a population of 60 million situated in the western part of India, Gujarat is THE place to be. Apart from Gujaratis, you will also find a heavy percentage of Marathis & Marwaris, though now a vast bunch of culture resides here.

Agriculture is a well developed field with mainly cotton, fruits, vegetables & wheat in production. It is also on its way to gaining growth in the sugar & dairy industries. Talking about industrial growth, Forbes in the year 2010 listed Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s largest city as the 3rd fastest growing city in the world. The revolutionary idea of the world’s least expensive car, Nano was implemented here in Gujarat. A tiny glimpse of these achievements can give you a complete picture of the growth.

If not anything else, Gujarat will definitely teach you the art of keeping yourself busy all the time, having fun with life & the most important ‘bargaining’!

So as Amitabh Bachchan says, “Kuch din to guzaro Gujarat mein”

About Shruti Nair

I work with Digital Upstarts as a Senior Copywriter & absolutely love the buzz in & around Social Media & Technology. There was a time when gadgets annoyed me and now I cannot live without getting my hands on the latest ones. Not a freak but the curiosity to know what new have the humans come up with, keeps me glued to the technology that hits the market every second day. I have been doing crazy stuff like selling off the current iPhone to get the latest launch-to-buying gadgets that I might never use. It’s all about satisfaction and sending your curiosity bug to sleep & prepare it to pop up with full energy the next time it hears about something new. For original reviews on technology with some humor hovering around it, keep watching this space!
