Baga Beach

Extension of Calangute Village sandwiched between Candolim beach and the Calangut beach, Baga Beach is one of the popular tourist beaches in Goa. One of the most happening beaches of Goa, Baga Beach is considered as Jewel of North Goa. This 30kms long coastline is surrounded by Arabian Sea in the north and popular among water sport lovers. It is also known for its amazing and enthralling Dolphin cruise. It is also heaven for people who are looking for some pulsating Nightlife and clubbing. If you are looking for some quiet place, Baga Beach is for you though at night it’s heaven for the party animals in town. Though you can visit Baga Beach any time of the year, but the best time to visit is from October to March. During monsoon, most of the sea side cafes remain closed but some night clubs remain open.

 How to Reach:

 By Rail: Nearest railway station is at Karmali, i.e. 11kms from Panaji, capital city of Goa.

By Air: closest airport to Baga beach is Dabolim Airport i.e. 29Kms from Panaji.

By Road: Baga Beach is just half-an-hour drive from Panaji and 15 mins from Mapusa. The nearest Bus Station to Baga Beach is KTC Bus Station in Mapusa.

Climate: It is mostly humid in Baga and is also pleasant sometimes due to winds. Summer (24°C to 34°C) Winter (14°C to 26°C)

Places to visit around: It’s not only the beach; there are many other places to sea around the beach. Fort Aguada is one such place. Built on the river Mandovi , this fort was the most prized for Portuguese. Another place to visit in Baga is St. Alex Church, known for its splendid towers and huge dome. There are lots of must do’s when visiting Baga Beach. Trek to green baga-anjuna Hill; Go parasailing, wake boarding, windsurfing and kite surfing to enjoy the water sports on Baga Beach. One of the most popular attractions in Baga Beach is Dolphin & Crocodile Cruise which should be on top of the to-do-list.

 Local Food: Goa being one of the Portuguese colonies in early times, has great influence in its culture from the Portuguese. Be it the food or lifestyle everything has a flavor of Portugal with Indian Touch. Goan food is mainly Sea Food with lots of coconut and spices. The best places to try authentic Goan food are sea side cafes on Baga Beach. As Baga Beach is an international beach holiday destination these cafes also serve International Cuisine. But as they say when travelling try to taste the local flavors. Try some yummy fish fry, crabs and lobsters with chilled beer just on the beach for an unforgettable meal.
