World destination Equivalents in India

It is impossible to see all of India- India is a whole world in itself! Each state a different country, each town and a different language, every home with its own culture: diverse doesn’t even cover it. It is very likely that you have a wish to discover more of the world, travel each nook- but, how ‘bout we first sail our journey through this world in Southeast Asia? Still not convinced? Look at these places in India, equal to the ‘famous’ world destinations and maybe, just maybe, you’ll change your mind:

minar

  • Qutub Minar = Eiffel tower

The tallest brick minaret in the world, its height may not be much in comparison to the Eiffel tower, but it’s still a reason to hold your head high.

  • Rashtrapati Bhavan = white House

It is a rare opportunity to get inside this piece of architecture, but one tour through the Mughal Garden, the White House pales some more.

  • India gate = Brandenburger Tor

The Brandenburger Tor in Germany is similar in structure, but in the core, they both stand their own. Looking at the names of all those fighters will make your heart swell up with pride, and you will most definitely have goose bumps.

Palace

  • Mysore Palace = Palace of Versailles

There shall be no comparison in things of beauty, a tip when you visit the Indian palace, though- remember put your ears to the pillars inside and knock on the pillar: you’ll hear musical tunes! (No kidding!) There you go Versailles! Oops, no comparison now.

  • Taj mahal = Taj Mahal

I don’t know what to equate it to, so, it stands here on its own, for its majestic symmetrical beauty and architecture with loads of optical illusions, to leave you entranced.

  • Bodh Gaya, Sanchi = Borobudur,indonesia

Borobudur is one of the greatest Buddhist Monasteries of the world and of course there’s an equivalent, no wait- there are two – Sanchi Stupa and Bodh Gaya!

  • CST = Grand Central railway station

Grand Central Station will have to take the backseat. After all, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus is a grandly architecture Railway station. And with commuters more than a lakh daily too! Beat that Grand Central!

beach

  • Goa, Kerala = Hawaii

Going abroad for beaches? Bad idea. How about try the beaches in Goa and Kerala: clean as the purest water and soothing as the best balm- You’ll never run out of Beaches in this country.

  • Thar = Sahara desert

India is a tiny world in its own, and of course it has vast sands, ‘cause Why not?

A plus- You won’t see beautiful women wearing colorful clothes in the Sahara, will ya? Here they do and it is a soothing retreat indeed!

him

  • Himalayas = rocky mountains, alps, Great divide

The second highest Mountain Peak in the World, Mount K2, is indeed in India (oh! the alliteration). And well, you can’t just beat the Himalayas.

Convinced you? I hope I did. Apologies for the snobby tone, but hey! I had to convince you, right? There’s is so much to see around. Every day is an adventure- Just don’t forget to see the Beauty at home when you follow the traced paths, and that’s all I ask.

About Moulshree Rana

A lost and quiet soul, searching for something here and there, fuelled by wanderlust. With thoughts that wander off the edge of the world - Hand me a pen and my hand now has its own mind, gliding over pages expressing the incomprehensible. Over-thinker. Dreamer. Dauntless. Awkward. Clumsy. A little crazy. Sunshine mixed with a little hurricane. Easily inspired and awed; and that's what keeps me going – knowing that there's still another nook to find. Still another idea to pen.
