Nokia unveils Android Tablet N1 with Foxconn

Since it sold its devices and services unit to Microsoft, Nokia for the first time after seven months unveiled its first device – N1, a tablet runs on Android OS. Surprisingly Nokia’s N1 is very similar to the the iPad mini, especially the rear portion where camera, buttons, and headphone jacks are placed. It looks like Nokia has made an affordable clone of Apple ipad mini.

After announcing good news to the fans that Nokia to license its brand name, it is indeed a good to see Nokia came back with a solid tablet made on anodized aluminum design. For this tablet Nokia partnered with Foxconn to build it, licensing the industrial design, Nokia brand, and Z Launcher software to the device maker.

Nokia also pushed Android “Z Launcher” which is now available on Android phones and N1 tablet through Google Play Store.

“We have such a beautiful, simple, and elegant Z Launcher. Why not build a device that is also built on the same principles as being super simple and easy to use and elegant?” said Brook Eaton, director for Nokia’s Z Launcher.

Nokia’s N1 comes with 7.9-inch screen with 2048 x 1536 resolution. It is 6.9mm thick and 318 grams in weight and runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. It is powered by 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor. The N1 comes with 32GB of storage and 2GB RAM.

Nokia N1 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel secondary front camera.

The N1 comes in “Natural Aluminum” and “Lava Grey” colours, and is planning to launch in China for $249 in February next year.
