Rose Day celebration at Ruia College

Love. What is love? Is it just another word or is it an emotion? Is love something that only exists between two people of opposite sexes or is it more than that?

At Ramnarain Ruia College, students believe that love knows no boundaries. Taking the beautiful initiative of ‘inclusiveness’ forward, the students of Ruia College are prepping for one of their most important events, Rose Day.

As the month of September begins, the whole college seems abuzz and there is an environment of festivities and happiness. The Rose Day is here and everyone is beyond excited. For the new students, its a new experience all together and for the old, its another new memory to cherish.

Organised by the VPM (Vidyarthi Pratinidhi Mandal) or the student council, who put in all the efforts to make the Rose Day a grand success, something they have been accomplishing ever since the initiation of the Rose Day a few years ago.

Now, you may wonder what’s so special about the Rose Day in Ruia when every other college celebrates it too. Well, their USP is that instead of selling roses, they sell rose cards. The sign of love doesn’t need to be a clichéd rose, right? The VPM introduces new rose cards every year and this year they have given way to 5 cards. A friendship card, a crush card (for that one person you have admired since forever), a love card (for the other half in your life), the hate card (for that person who you are not too fond of) and the bouquet card. And not just cards, they are selling various chocolates too, their flavours ranging from mint to blueberry and orange.

The theme for this year is pretty different this year and carries a social message. It is ‘inclusiveness’. What is inclusiveness, you ask? Inclusiveness is nothing but including every person’s love and admiration towards their special someone, irrespective of any criteria like gender, sexualiy, race or caste. But that’s exactly what love is, right? The efficient Public Relations (PR) team of the college has prepared an amazing video on the very theme which explains the concept of inclusiveness very clearly and beautifully. The video is viral on all social networking websites now!

With celebrities coming up to cheer on the students and the DJ belting out popular tracks, Ruia’s Rose Day promises to be a fantastic one.

Also, how can one forget the Rose King and Rose Queen Hunt, a competition that happens on the day itself where a a girl and a boy are crowned as the Rose King and Rose Queen on the basis of the different tasks that they complete.

Now that the excitement is at its peak, people are eagerly discussing what to wear and how many rose cards to buy as September 12 is just around the corner!

So, come celebrate love this September in Ruia’s Rose Day!
