Publishing giant Pearson calls budding writers in Schools to submit their stories on MyPedia Reader

Student’s first tryst with storytelling

Hyderabad, February 23, 2017: Pearson India, the Indian arm of world’s leading learning company – Pearson, has launched a first-of-its-kind creative writing contest in the form of the MyPedia ReaderCreative Writing Contest. MyPedia Reader aims at giving students an opportunity to write stories and have them published by Pearson.  The contest is open to students of Grades 4 to 12 across schools. The winning stories will be hand-picked by a panel of eminent and inspiring children’s writers and educationists.

Students can write about anything that catches their interest or base their stories on themes like humour, mystery, folk tales, adventure, fairy tales, myths, history, science-fiction, culture or travel. They get an opportunity to unleash their creativity by writing a story in English, keeping in mind a word limit of 250 to 1000 words. Students can get as creative as they wish to and send entries in the form of prose, poetry or even a play. Entries can be sent via post or online; last date to submit stories is 10March, 2017.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Ujjwal Singh, Vice-President, K12 Product, Pearson India, said, “Children have myriad tales to tell and the MyPedia Reader is based on the premise that a child’s world, context, aspirations, dreams and challenges are best understood and expressed by another child. Thus, stories that express things as seen from a child’s perspective will have an unmatched appeal and relevance to other children and will help children experience the magical joy of reading.”

The MyPedia Creative Writing Contest is a platform for students who have a way with words to share their stories with a larger audience, as well as an attempt to encourage young writers to showcase their work.  Students willing to participate in the contest should note that all works must be original and unpublished, or they will be disqualified immediately. However, an entry that had been  long listed or shortlisted in other competitions but did not win a prize will be eligible. About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
