Anandiben Patel, Gujarat’s Chief Minister launches Swasti Mishra Memoir – Shadows of the Land

‘Shadows of the Land’ is an inspiring story of a youth, a soul searching journey and a must read for every Non-Resident Indian living abroad. In this extraordinarily depicted memoir, the author starts her journey as a typical immigrant who aspires for better prospects in a developed country like America. Her physical journey starts from the airport but her mental journey started long back. She becomes a part of the massive ‘brain drain’ of the early twenty first century towards the land of opportunity, where she tries to establish herself as a struggling F-1 student, an ambitious H-1B worker, and subsequently as a retrospective immigrant parent. Her attention to details, cultural observations, and a set of coincidences that are worded with humor and irony, inspire a soul searching introspection which completely overhaul her social, economic, political and religious views.

A young and upcoming author, Ms. Swasti Mishra is also a naturally gifted designer, architect and a planner. After completing her Bachelor in Architecture from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, she went to America for further studies in Infrastructure Planning from New Jersey Institute of Technology. With this book she had tried to provide a powerful stimulus to thousands of youths who left their homeland in search of better prospects in far off lands and are wrestling with a dilemma to return. This book inspires them and also comforts those who have already taken the challenge of moving back, while simultaneously it provides guidance for those who still wish to make that distant land, far from home, their home.

This book got a special compliment from then Chief Minister of Gujarat and current Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, who had been a key figure in inspiring her to return to India and with whom she got a chance to work as a Chief Minister’s Fellow after returning to India. The fellowship also provided her the window that she desperately needed to seriously consider about returning to India. On 31st January 2015 the book was launched by the current Chief Minister of Gujarat Smt. Anandiben Patel in her office in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

Sprightly Spirit

About Sprightly Spirit

“I dare do all that may become a man. Who dares more is none”. And all, may be. It may be the vigor. Or the spirit. Or the courage to avoid being “politically correct” or bent. And, ban all averse with immaculate overture of graciously fathomable words firm in views. Subtle. Justifying the undying conscience. Values. Knowledge. And, dares to stay true. True to own. True to the world. And, to the words. With a dream in eyes it exists. In you. In me. In all. The sprite that never shies away. The spirit that never dies!
