Speaking the Truth: Rapid News Rapidly Increase the Crime

The tip tap of the continuous rains on the window, the whiff of dark leaden clouds sprinkled across the sky, the occasional silver streaks illumining and piercing the darkness are nature’s beautiful expression which deepens our faith in God. If white and orange colours are inevitable then so are grey and dark, gloomy shades a part of this universe. We welcome rains but we fear the thunder-the storm which concludes it at times. Nature is the best teacher and teaches that ‘good’ and ‘evil’ co-exist in this universe! However the grey colour mostly associated with gloom and desperation is by and large often avoided because as the belief goes, it engulfs the mind with desperation. May I ask then why most of the T.V. channels are running news which bring tears in our eyes or  instigate the people to imitate the same? Why there can’t be more news about how the families of the war hit, famine hit, and accident hit people are doing? Why can’t be there more news of chivalry and valour? Why can’t always a two or three liner motivational speech be there from the recent happenings? Are we really devoid of noble hearts? Or are we trapped in the fangs of extremism and the channels have very well read our minds and exploiting our emotions?

Fear-of-crime-in-KnysnaThe other day as I sat in front of T.V., ‘rapid news’ was being shown and believe me at least ninety percent of the news were about molestations, clippings being made of gang rapes, suicides due to rapes, children being sexually abused in schools etc. This was disheartening and pathetic. And then the ‘debate forum’ followed which mainly consisted of rising prices or one can say one political party lashing out at other! One or two channels are trying and have started episodes on Kargil War and the like but ‘round the clock’ motivational and soul warming feel is missing.

What I am trying to say should not be confused with this that I want dark shades news to be obscured. I do not want this. I want that the rapists should be hanged publicly especially in the recent Bulandshahr case and similar crimes. I am hugely thankful to the TV channels for bringing to us such information. We must know what is happening in the society but the quantity of their ingredient should be refined and measured. Such news if aired repeatedly can have ill effects too. Criminals can get assured about the incompetency of the concerned departments. We all know that excess of everything is bad then too, to earn some more gold guineas channels are overlooking the norms of humanity. Tweets, Facebook updates, whatsapp messages are increasing by leaps and
bounds. I wonder how our generations to come will fare! I wonder what more new ‘social inevitable evils’ are going to hit the human society and rob it of its humanity!

Let us see, how many of us are motivated to adopt a kid languishing in poverty or pay for his or her education at least? How many of us are guided to buy a packet of bread for a child every week? And mainly how many of us are inspired by the T.V. channels news and other items to reach out to the families of those soldiers who died and were buried at the borders saving the grace and pride of India? None of us! We hardly have this news that ‘so and so’ did some magnanimous act! Why isn’t there ‘rapid news’ of such nature? My mind is boggled. Alone I can’t do anything so I want all of you to come forward and voice this through different social media platforms which I know you have been using rapidly! Jai Hind!
